The teflon band is resistant to most substances, even strongly aggressive ones, although not melted alkalis and some fluoro compounds, for example liquid sodium and free fluorine.

Due to its low friction, the teflon band makes it easy to both tighten and untighten for example threaded joints, at the same time as helping to seal the joint. Suitable for threaded joints with threads up to 1″.
